What is Post & Core?

When a tooth is badly broken and there is not enough structure left to place a crown, Post & Core is a procedure where a small pin (post) is placed inside the root of the tooth to build it up. Then a crown is placed over it.

In simple words: Just like an iron rod is used to strengthen a weak wall, this treatment strengthens a broken tooth from the inside.

🔄 How is it done?

1. Examination

Doctor takes an X-ray to check if the root is strong enough.

2. Post Placement

A small pin (post) is fixed inside the root of the tooth.

3. Core Buildup

A core is prepared over the post to support the crown.

4. Crown Fixing

A new crown is placed — your tooth is now strong again!
